A GRAMMAR OF MËRANAW LANGUAGE

This paper describes the grammar of Mëranaw (ISO 639-3: mrw). Mëranaw, or more commonly known as Maranao, is a Philippine language prevalently spoken in almost all parts Lanao del Sur province and some areas Norte, Maguindanao, North Cotabato. The primary goal this study to provide that entails linguistic features covering its morphological features. participants were three identified professional native speakers living Marawi City. elicited materials consist 615-word list 775-sentence from UP Department Linguistics transcribed analyzed using Basic Linguistic Theory. It was found morphologically speaking, has rich culture affixation prefixes, suffixes, infixes, circumfixes are present create new words. These affixations include prefix p-, mak-, tomi- suffix -an. Moreover, infix ka- -an circumfix p- -n, miaka- -e. form another lexical category given word most likely tells time certain verbs take place. Furthermore, sketch aims concrete reference for Mother Tongue–Based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) one languages being taught. further implies description documentation basis revitalization at same preservation.
